1) 6 April:Zu: Warriors from the Magic Mountain (4K Digitally Restored Version)

With this adaptation of Huanzhu Louzhu’s Legend of the Swordsmen of the Mountains of Shu, Tsui Hark delved into the world of wuxia and fantasy, for which he had long held a fascination. Set in Mount Zu during the Uprising of the Five Barbarians era, the film’s plot centres around Ding Yin, a master swordsman who has been possessed by Blood Demon. Three youths manage to escape Ding’s attack, and together they embark on a journey to ask for help from the powerful Li Yiqi. The film was the first movie to introduce Hollywood stunts, which is of epoch-making historical significance; it was nominated for five awards in the 3rd Hong Kong Film Awards. In 2005, it was voted by the Hong Kong Film Awards Association as one of the "The Best 100 Chinese Motion Pictures".

2) 7 April:A Chinese Odyssey Part Two-Cinderella

Only using Journey to the West as a jumping -off point, Jeff Lau concludes  his take on the Monkey King mythos with a sprawling adventure that is also a timeless romance filled with mistaken identities, unequited love and musings about fate. After travelling back by 500 years, Joker is ready to take up his destined role as the Monkey King and continue his quest to the west. However, he can't do without shedding all humanly desires, including his love for Zisha. Made just after Wong Kar-wai's Ashes of Time(1994) which Lau co-produced, this installment features imagery and themes that echo Wong's own reinterpretation of another literary classic. Nevertheless, Lau manages to make his hilariously odd and suprisingly affecting saga of love, karma and destiny a unique cinematic achivement that can only be called a Jeff Lau film.

Along with Zu: Warriors from the Magic Mountain  (1983), it was voted by the Hong Kong Film Awards Association as one of the "The Best 100 Chinese Motion Pictures" in 2005.
