What is comedy? Is something that makes people laugh out loud truly “comedy”? Throughout history, comedy has been defined in many various ways. Tracing back to ancient Greece, Aristotle stated in Poetics that comedy portrays people as worse than they are in reality. As civilisation advanced, while bring joy, comedy also concealed a deeper layer of meaning beneath the laughter - revealing and satirizing reality. Now, in 2025, what does “comedy” represent?
Thus, Music & Laughs was born, drawing nourishment from the rich history of comedic culture. Curated by veteran producer Edward Chan, who has produced over 2 000 songs, in collaboration with pop music artists, the Symphonic Pops Orchestra and band, the performance takes music and song as its core, incorporating elements of drama, dance, and unique stage design. Transcending time, breaking genre boundaries, and pushing performers beyond their limits, we invite the audience to explore together: What is comedy? Which popular artists will join this feast?
